Cover started in the summer of 2007 as an idea by David Heasley and
Linsey Griffith. The idea for Cover started long before 2007 but that's
when it finally was able to become a reality. Both had worked in some capacity
for various other publications in the past and wanted to try our own thing on
our own terms. They wanted to try their own thing on their own terms. They want
to Cover the arts like no other publication can or will. They want
a level of variety that you wont find anywhere else.
They will Cover events big and small in Columbus and beyond. What would
you like them to Cover?
David Heasley:
A photographer specializing mostly in sports, theatre and concerts. David has
shot for various publications, groups and organizations at Ohio State University.
You may have seen some of his work also in The Other Paper, on TheOZone.net
and at the Buckeye Corner on Lave Ave. He's just happy to be shooting. Doesn't
really matter where or what.
He had mostly shot sports up until the Ohio State Theatre Department put on The Rocky Horror Show in 2005. That was his first taste of theatre photography and it stuck. Now anything that is live is great. Live music, live theatre, live opera and of course still sports. In 2007, Allison Walker asked him to photograph L'elisir d'amore (Elixir of Love) for the OSU School of Music. David credits her a lot for his theatre shooting. She's helped him get on shows with Whitehall High School and the Club Theatre Company. Without her it all probably would have started and stopped with Rocky Horror.
Linsey Griffith:
A Marketing and Education professional, Linsey has been singing for over 18
years. A classically trained mezzo-soprano, saxophonist, and pianist, she decided
music was a much better avocation than vocation and pursued other professional
interests. However, her love for music and the arts could not be quelled so
she decided to embrace the saying "Those who can do, those who cannot critique."
Her interests vary, from opera to rock, ballet to cabaret. The only event you won't find her at is a hard core rap concert (she has gone to a few and swore them off). With an education and professional career as diverse as her interests Linsey may be considered a bit schizophrenic, but she is never boring. Let us know what you would like Linsey to cover, whether it be a local theater production or a random circus act, she's up for anything.
